Angela Robb
Counsellor SNCPS (Acc.) | EMDR Practitioner | Rewind Trauma Therapist | Clinical Supervisor
EMDR Therapy is a powerful, evidence based treatment which uses bilateral eye movements to process post trauma symptoms. Suitable for treating a wide range of traumatic experiences which often underpin anxiety and depression and post trauma symptoms. Traumatic experiences are distressing events that occur outside our window of tolerance and can leave us with unhelpful reactions to present day triggers, such as panic attacks and phobias or unexplained physical sensations. I am an experienced, EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner, and I have successfully healed clients from their traumatic experiences with this approach since 2017. I am also registered as a Rewind Trauma practitioner with the International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy. Rewind is a fast, effective treatment which stops involuntary recall of traumatic memories and PTSD symptoms. Described as 'closure without disclosure' this therapy is suitable for survivors and witnesses of life threatening events. EMDR and Rewind are both evidence based therapies. Screening for suitability essential. Contact me to find out more. I am trained and experienced in offering EMDR Therapy in person and via Video sessions.
Financial worries, redundancy, career change and transition are all common stressors today. Work place harassment, work related stress and conflict with employers can also impact our mental health. Juggling work with parenting or caring for ageing parents can leave us feeling overwhelmed. Other major life events that can present us with challenges to our mental wellbeing include relationship breakdown, separation and divorce, loss and bereavement, infertility, miscarriage and post natal depression and family conflict.

APPOINTMENT FREQUENCY AND DURATION
Therapy is a process that requires you to commit to regular sessions - usually weekly appointments. It is important before you consider beginning therapy how this would fit in with your other commitments such as work and studies. When I agree to work with you, I will secure a regular time in my diary for you that will not be offered to anyone else - for as long as you need it. This is my commitment to you. Therapy duration is unique to each individual therefore I cannot be prescriptive in terms of how long you may need to attend, however, I generally ask you to attend for a minimum of 4 sessions to review how therapy is working for you. I work both long and short term with clients according to their individual needs. I offer in person and online appointments,, subject to availability.

Q. Are you a member of an Accredited Register?
A. Yes I am a Senior Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. I am also a member of the EMDR Association UK. I adhere to their Codes of Ethics.
Q. How many sessions will I need?
A. Therapy is unique to each person so it is impossible to say. It really depends on each person and their individual experiences. I take my lead from each client and respect their choice around how many sessions is right for them.
Q. Is your work supervised?
A. Yes I have two clinical supervisors - one for my counselling and and one for my EMDR case work. It is an ethical requirement for all counsellors to have regular clinical supervision. I discuss my client work anonymously with my supervisors to ensure that I am complying with best practice.
Q. Are you insured?
A. Yes, I hold therapist's public liability insurance.
Q. How do I know if you can help me?
A. Therapy is a process that requires a commitment from you to work on yourself. Therapy is not about 'fixing' people but developing a greater understanding and acceptance of self and becoming more at ease. Some issues benefit from talking therapy, others a neurobiological approach can be more helpful. I integrate both to facilitate your psychological growth. As my work is confidential, I cannot provide you with examples of successful case studies. Many of my referrals come from personal recommendations of previous clients, my supervisor, colleagues and peers. You are welcome to review my qualifications, training and experience on LinkedIn and read my client testimonials on my website. If at any time I believe that I am not the right therapist for you, I will try to sign post you to an appropriate service.
